The Daat Emet chairman was arrested and detained for 16 hours (overnight) and restrained hand and foot (degradation and insult) after having been invited by residents of the Romema neighborhood of Haifa to speak at the local synagogue on July 16, 2007.
Breslov Chassidim who forced their way in interrupted the speech and the police (as is their wont) arrested the law-abiding and allowed the law-breakers to run free.
The Breslov Chassidim began to sing, accompanied by whistles, drumming on tables, and the recitation of Rav Nachman of Bvreslov's "General remedy for spiritual correction." They went wild, ran amok, and sang "It is a great good deed to hate you."
Our best wishes to the residents of Romema, who may be called the pioneers of the true cultural war.
